Next-Gen Upgrade Plans Revealed
Activision has finally let the cat out of the bag and revealed how the next-gen upgrade plans work. Retail partners and console manufacturers have worked with Activision for the last two years on how to make the next-gen transition as seamless and easy as possible.
Xbox Digital Upgrade
- A disc-less dual-license digital version can be bought from participating retailers for $70.
- The dual-license digital version has both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions that are linked to the user's Xbox Live gamertag.
- The Xbox LIVE Marketplace "Game Ahead Program" offers the digital version of Ghosts for $60 and can be upgraded to the Xbox One version for $10.
- The upgrade offer is available on the Xbox Live Marketplace until 31st of March, 2014.
Xbox Disc Upgrade
- Participating retail stores allow gamers to trade in their Xbox 360 copy of Ghosts and get the Xbox One version for $10.
- The offer is valid until the end of the year at the participating retailers.
PlayStation Digital Upgrade
- Digital PS3 copies bought from the PlayStation Store can be upgraded to the PlayStation 4 version for $10/10€/£10.
- For a limited time, every disc-based PlayStation 3 version of Ghosts includes a code that can be used to upgrade the game for $10/10€/£10 to the PS4 version via the PlayStation Store.
- Both upgrade plans are available until 31st of March, 2014.
PlayStation Disc Upgrade
- Participating retailers can trade the PS3 version to the PS4 for a reduced upgrade fee.
- The offer is valid until the end of the year at the participating retailers.
Regardless which version you buy, upgrading your COD: Ghosts copy to a next-gen version will carry all your stats, unlocks, etc. with you. The Season Pass, that includes access to four Ghosts DLC map packs, will also be automatically upgraded to the next-gen version for free.
